Cosi Coffeehouse

I designed a mobile app that allows users to order in advance, track their orders and make reservations, saving time and avoiding frustration.

Project overview

Cosi Coffeehouse needed a solution for customers losing time in long queues, whether ordering to-go or waiting for a table.

The project aimed to design an intuitive app that streamlines ordering, notifies users when their order is ready, and allows easy table reservations.

My contributions

I led the full UX/UI design process, including:

• User research, personas, and journey mapping.
• Wireframes and hi-fi prototypes.
• Usability testing and design iterations.
• Accessibility considerations to ensure an inclusive experience.

Design Process

  1. Understand the user
I conducted first and secondary research. Once I established my target audience I created empathy maps to understand the user and define their needs and pain points.
  1. Brainstorm ideas
At the start of the Ideation phase I did some more research, making a competitive audit. I gathered all the data and started to brainstorm ideas and draw sketches.
  1. Start the design
Once the design phase started, first I designed wireframes. Then I made a style sheet to assure consistency in my designs and finished a first lo-fi prototype to conduct usability tests.
  1. Test, iterate, refine
With the feedback and data I collected from users I determined insights to iterate on my designs. Finally, I polished the screens and finished the hi-fi mockups to create a hi-fi prototype to test again.

UX Research Study: Testing

In order to conduct usability tests with my prototypes, first I had to write a research plan including:

  • Project background
  • Research goals
  • Research questions
  • KPIs
  • Methodology
  • Participants
  • Script

After conducting the usability tests I analyzed and synthesized the results (with a tool called Miro) to iterate on my designs.
